The 2nd Annual Vicki Hickman Birthday Memory Skydive

Saturday April 26, 2008 @ 8:00AM - Scheduled Jump day and Luncheon

Well we celebrated Vicki's 20th birthday this year at our 2nd Annual Birthday Memorial Skydive.

Our memorial skydive event scheduled for April 26, 2008 was again hosted at Freefall Adventures in Williamstown, NJ. We had a wonderful turnout for this year's jump and luncheon event. We nearly doubled our skydivers from last year with 38 people signed up to take the plunge for Vicki. The number of participants at the luncheon also doubled with more then 110 people and an incredible menu! Vicki would have been proud!!!

So unlike last year's event, the weather proved to be a bit challenging for us as a thick cloud cover and low ceiling kept us from jumping on the Scheduled date. On April 26th the cloud cover just wouldn't let up, as a result the group was grounded but that was ok it gave us more time to celebrate at our luncheon.

As I said we had a great turn out, approximately 110 people and lots of food. As you might expect there was the customary picnic items such as potato & macaroni salad, cole slaw along with Meatballs, Ziti an incredible roast beef recipe as well as a full roast pig... Luau style!!! We had Dot from Devone's (Vicki's favorite places) make up a bunch of "Vicki's Special Sandwiches".. you'd know what we mean if you ever had one!! For desert we enjoyed tons of pies, brownies chips and so much more. Of course we had another birthday cake for Vicki!

It really was an incredible outing, although we were disappointed to not to be able to jump the fun had by all at the luncheon was an excellent consolation. Friends caught up, new friends were made some ad hoc football action and just a generally good time just like Vicki would have created.

Saturday May 4, 2008 @ 8:00AM - Our 2nd Attempt - Ready, Set..... Wait!!!

Well once again the weather challenged us for the 2ndattempt. Forecasts of heavy showers, lots of clouds and a steady breeze was enough to keep us from having our dive. Based on the threats of such weather we pulled the plug on this 1st rain date. With individuals driving from as far away as Maryland we felt it was better to play it safe then sorry.

Saturday June 7, 2008 @ 8:00AM - Our 3rd Attempt - Finally jump day!!

Well as they say.. "The Third Time Is The Charm!!"

So this was the day we had hoped for, a clear sunny day and only a light breeze to keep us cooled down. It was beautiful and busy down at the drop zone! With the summer jump season well under way our team of jumpers got to perform our jumps throughout the morning. Our blue Vicki skydive shirts stood out as we all celebrated a belated birthday to Vicki!! It was especially appreciated to see so much of the staff at Freefall also wearing their shirts as they helped us through our dive programs.

Although the number of divers is a bit much to list this year we would like to say thank you to all of you who took the plunge. We'd certainly also love to recognize and thank our supports on the ground for coming out, bending their necks and keeping their face to the skies looking for the little dots and the "**poof**" the parachutes as they deploy on our way down.

Attending The Skydive Event Is Free!! As always the Drop Zone at Freefall Adventures was freely open to everyone who wanted to attend. Purchasing T-Shirts, Participating in the Luncheon or joining us as a diver are options available to anyone that may be interested in them.

    Cost for activities relating to the jump:
  • Tandem Skydive : $169.00 ($50 deposit, balance to be paid day of event)
  • Skydive Video : TBD (available at Freefall Adventures)
  • Skydiver's Luncheon : $10
  • Luncheon + T-Shirt : $20
  • Shirts Available : $10
    Note: Shirts are only available in Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and 2X-Large - If you need a different size I can inquire about these sizes however I can not guarantee availability or price. E-mail me if you would like me to check your sizes out.
    Please be advised, Jumpers must be::
  1. Must be 18 years or older
  2. Must weigh no more then 250 lbs
  3. Must be fully capable of reviewing and accepting jump rules and releases.
  4. In good general health leading up to dive day.

Jumpers and Spectators were be able to partake in a some delicious food, a party like Vicki would have thrown. Although the clouds left us hanging we had plenty of food on hand, keeping the atmosphere informal while we enjoyed some good times with old friends and new. There were quite a few stories to share as well as a bunch of pictures to post again.

So anyway we enjoyed some awesome food a great time was had by all and we celebrated Vicki's birthday with a huge cake and a choir of Happy Birthday that would have even made Vicki cry.. Tears of agony at our singing skills of course!!
